I have mentioned before how we budget for Christmas and save a little each month until time to start shopping. When January 2009 rolls around we will have accumulated exactly $0 in debt. It is a great feeling and one that we will continue to enjoy. If you are not quite there, you can be, so start mentally preparing yourself now to begin your 2009 Christmas budget.
If you are struggling with credit card debt, I understand the emotional weight that is felt because of what appears to be the never ending battle with interest. Putting together a plan to pay off the debt is a very important step in getting out of the bondage that comes because of debt. There are many different ideas on the best way to eliminate the debt, but the one thing that is for sure. You have to find a plan that works for you. Don’t try to follow someone else just because their plan worked for them. You have to understand your personality, determine the amount of disposable income you have to throw at the debt and, most importantly, how angry you are at allowing yourself to get into this mess to begin with.

Once you decide you are no longer content to pay minimum payments for what seems like forever, get angry and start paying off that debt. By staying focused you will be amazed at your progress.
