Christmas Tree

44 days until Christmas!

Can you believe it? Halloween is over, which means that it is time to put up the Christmas tree and start playing your favorite Christmas CD. At least that is what we found as we ventured out today. Being Veteran’s Day, the stores were filled with government employees who had the day off because of the Federal Holiday. As I stood in the middle of the store, I commented to my wife about how busy WalMart was. One thing is for sure, even when the media is spewing doom and gloom, the economy is still functioning. It may not be as robust as in years past, but there are still people spending money. On the way out of the store I stopped and spoke with one of the employees in the Tire and Lube department, and he commented on how busy they were with over nine tire orders queued up.

Based on everything you hear on the radio and read in the paper, this year is going to be a rough one for most of the retail stores. In an effort to make the best out of the current situation, many stores are already putting sales on items that usually don’t go on sale until after Thanksgiving. Just like in real estate, it looks like it is going to be a buyers market this year and that bodes well for those who haven’t done a good job saving for the shopping season

SmartMoney.com has 4 Ways to Get the Most Out of Holiday Sales and the early sales opportunities. The most important thing to remember is be patient and don’t get tied to the idea that you have to buy a Christmas gift for everyone in your extended family. Remember the true meaning of Christmas is the true gift that God gave the world; His son Jesus.
