If you have ever listened to the Dave Ramsey show, you have probably heard his intro that encourages debt free living and a paid off mortgage. In this uncertain economic time that we are dealing with, having cash on hand is probably the smartest thing you could do. CNN Money has a pretty good article detailing how consumers are moving toward using more cash and less credit. That, I would say, is a pretty good thing.
Don’t let the world (or Visa commercials) trick you into believing that only weird people use cash. I know that for us, going to the grocery store and using cash used to make us feel a little bit uncomfortable simply because we thought we were holding up the person next in line. Now we realize that we are getting out of the line almost as fast or in some cases (like when the credit card is maxed out), using cash is actually faster than using the plastic.
