Dave Ramsey says that being poor is a state of mind. I understand his reasoning, but most people feel that being poor is a function of your economic state and not necessarily your mental state. However you define being poor, the one thing that everyone should be able to agree on is the way to becoming rich is to not do things that poor people do.
Yahoo Finance has this article from TheStreet.com, which lists 10 (more) reasons you may be poor. Of the ten reasons listed, I like this one the best:
You feel entitlement: If you believe you deserve to live a certain lifestyle, have certain things and spend a certain amount before you have earned to live that way, you will have to borrow money. That large chunk of debt will keep you from building wealth.
You only deserve what you go out and earn. Today’s politicians are taking our country to more of a socialist state than we have ever been before. If everyone would commit to living the principle found in I Timothy 5:8, we would see a lot less people standing in lines with their hands out expecting something for doing nothing.
